Spotted this off Folkestone this afternoon. Any ideas what she is?

According to a post on the East Coast Forum, there were a number of tall ships gathered in Ipswich for the start of a race but it's now been cancelled. Could have been one of them going home?

I agree that it could well be the Stavros S Niarchos or the Prince William - or possibly TS Royalist?

its a barque,was it windy

Very good! So windy it blew the mizzen mast away!

It's a brig. They are few and far between. Royallist, Stavros Niarchos & Prince William are the only ones I know of regularly operating in British waters. The Royallist is smaller than the one in the pic.

According to the tracker on the Stavros S Niarchos website, at 13.42 she was 51deg 06.55N, 1 deg 19.16E, so confirmation.

Just so yer know, Royalist is in Falmouth harbour with no rig, covered in that white plastic waiting for someone to spend a silly amount of money on her.

I sailed past a boat with a big white plastic cover in Falmouth a few weeks ago. It was the Malcolm Miller. If you look here you'll see Royalist is in Portsmouth currently.

Spotted this one of Watchet a few weeks ago.I have since found outs she is called the Marjorie and was built in 1913 .From a distance I thought she was a tallship but then realized she is a yacht about 40 ft .
