I didn’t realise they made a Bertram 20 with a shaft drive, I thought they were stern/out-drive?
They certainly are a nice boat though, highly regarded to this day

The hull of an Itama (42 included) is more inspired to the Jim Wynn / Walt Walters shape then the Ray Hunt.
There is a rumor that Amati made a copy of a Magnum 38 hull, and then asked Sonny Levi or Harrauer to make it better.

If you want to see a near exact copy of a Ray Hunt, though look behind you (in the marina) or look for a Dellapasqua on the hard.
To this day the hull of a DC is near identical to the original sixties Hunt design.

There’s a Dellapasqua dealer here in Loano , when I walk by his office he display ( amongst the usual broker / dealer boat add in the window ) , a 1ft x 1 ft piece of sold fibreglass about an inch or so thick ....with something written under about the solid ness of the hull .
Never really new much about Dellapasqua but after seeing that .....starting to appreciate them .
But again apart from me , PYB and maybe MapishM.....who’s gonna start drawing up a short list based on hull integrity , shape and the history behind the design team ?
The owner told me he had (Dellapasqua 12SL ) it’s got fiat power train engines ....not sure how many hp .
Looks well made up close tbh .Impressive to say the least .Parked next door to a PH 48 and Fer 51 ?

Yup, their hulls are by far the ones with most rails that you can find - see below.
Goes to prove how far they embraced the concept!
I only saw one of their earliest 16m in flesh, and TBH I was unimpressed, for several reasons.
The yard does have a reputation for building some good seagoing hulls, though.

Construction strength, and superb sea kindly ride are strong attributes in a DC.
The rest like finishing, detailing and the Quality perception are not strong points in a DC. Let say some of these are average and very utilitarian.
Another thing to check with DC when buying used, especially with the top selling DC 10, 11, and 12 models is to check they have adequate horse power for that 24 degrees Hunt deep Vee with more spray rails.
As Dellapasqua would give a buyer the price he wanted at the cost of horsepower.

Yup, deep vee hulls indeed demand bigger engines.
There was none for sale when I bought my boat, but their 18m model (of which I believe they only built a few) is actually much closer in size and displacement to the DP56 than the DC 16.
But IIRC, she was only built with either the 1050 MANs or C18 Cats.
Not sure that's a price I'd want to pay, for a slighly softer ride on a flybridge boat, which ain't a speed demon anyway.
In fact, with a very similar displacement and 500 more ponies, the DC 18 just managed the same top speed of my DP...
