Spot the boat is no more!

Ok, let's all calm down and spot the boat then... No human flesh version!

It's a Fletcher!

Uho, no it's not. Bollox, thought it was going to be one I knew.

And being a Med boater where all the boats incl mine are quite "bikini-ed" I totally get the "in context" aspect of the advertising.

You just can't let it lie can you?

Any chance to have a dig at us Gosportians :)

I'm thinking a Solent STB, a Med STB and I will happily take a hit for the troops and snap a few shots for an Asian STB.

I can guarantee the former will cause no offence at all. The latter would be unpublishable.

Henry :)

Oh yessssss!!

Now I see why so many people are against changing STB... It's because I'd join in, and because I'm so f****** good at it, I'd spoil everyone's fun! :p

It was a very good spot! Sadly although I have many suitable images, they're mostly of the same few boats and a large proportion are Fletcher. Spot the Fletcher doesn't have the same impact :) I'll have a trawl through when I get 5 minutes for something that's not been posted anywhere and see if you can repeat the feat :p

Well as a fellow Fletcher owner (19 GTS), "Spot the Fletcher" is fine by me! :P

Also, I'm not too sure I've seen many Fletcher adverts with swimwear wearing models sprawled all over the place... so two birds one stone!

Yes, thought so on the Fletcher - you've posted in the Fletcher Forum too I believe? :)

There are a few such images! I have a number from the 80's - alas they're all guilty of that it seems... Later one's seem to be clad in wetsuits instead :D

Indeed I have... and over on the sportsboat.co.uk forum (before it was recently hacked and moved over to boatbanter.co.uk).

Oh well... the important thing is that they are now wetsuit clad, and often sitting next to a middle aged balding bloke from Wolverhampton... I think that pretty much takes the sex appeal from it!

I think that deserves a LOL :)

Also, if they stop using promo/brochure shots, I reckon a few of the experts might struggle...;)
+1 in appreciating AG contribution, ALSO in these non-technical matters!
But if you're thinking to the latest STB when talking of experts struggling, oi, at least I made a proper outing, explaining also the background! :D

Anyway, I like this STBB thing enough to throw in my 2c.
Who dares guessing to which boat this bum belongs?

Anyone going to get upset at inferred bad language now ????

The funny thing is I knew someone would say that! However, as anybody who has understood my posts in this thread would realise, I have not been arguing about whether STB causes offence or not... as in my opinion, this isn't the big issue that needs to be addressed. For me, the wider issues such as perpetuation of less-than-equal attitudes towards women, which may be partially aided (in a minor way) by the way STB is conducted, are more important. That said, I can't add any more to the argument beyond what I've already explained, so I'll say no more about it.

Personally, I didn't realise the word Flippin' was that offensive anyway, but thought I'd err on the side of caution so as not to undermine my argument!

Well, if your previous post deserved a proper LOL, this definitely earns a full ROTFL status. :encouragement:

Ugh... if I must explain!

Well, it was something to do with the fact that it has what appears to be an all round white light on it, that happens to only be quite short. It's therefore unlikely to be anything too long - probably <20ft. This is further supported by the bimini pole that was visible pretty close to the back of the boat. The add on what looks to be a bolt on swim platform... popular on the american boats, and the rounded back of the topside GRP featuring a bit of shiny strip going around, it just screams Maxum. Thus, most likely, a 1800 or 1900.

Oh, and we nearly bought one before we bought the Fletch, so I've looked a quite a few!

As for the latest example... it looks a bit out of my price range, as so I have no idea!

Although... I'm not sure of the rules of STB. Is GIS allowable.

If so... then a minute on GIS suggests it may be a Tullio Abbate Villa d'Este Special. although not 100% sure. Nevertheless, teh slide out bathing platform thing is pure class!

If not... then I didn't say that!

Mapism, that's probably the sexiest image I've ever seen on a STB, I am a little worried about what might be wrong with me...

Anna, I think that GIS is against the rules, there was a GIS gate a few months ago that got quite heated...but you are the first person that I remember admitting you've used it....sorry, second :)
