We are still resolute in coming round to the Thames in late July, (date on a need to know basis), should anyone feel an urgent need to discuss the merits of Brexit/ Brooms/Sealines/outdrives........just keep it to yourself until we leave again or face a long rant on just how wrong you are.
Be prepared for amazing displays of seamanship and boat handling skills and no ill tempered shouting at crew or muttering about other Thames users.
Ps.All dependant on me not breaking or bending anything in the next few weeks.

Retirement looms,so you can all look forward to OG spending even longer on the Thames instead of his usual hit and run week.
Actually getting beyond Sonning is the plan.The rocks at Henley put paid to that last year.

As you go up past the park in Henley behind the island, there is a section of new campshedding on the bank, stay well away and find another spot.

Good to know, thanks. Was heading up there next week and planning to go to just that spot. Is it better further up towards Marsh Lock?

Very disappointed to hear that. As you know I had extensive engagement with Henley Town Council parks department last year. This is the first indication I have seen that the issue is still there.
I will be in Henley next Tuesday so will see if I can collar somebody.

Thought it was just my usual luck to have clobbered something that nobody else would possibly find.
Cost me in the region of £500 quid in the end, what with the emergency lift and getting the prop sorted at end of season.
Come to think of it was that starboard prop on gearbox which needed a new drive shaft fitted earlier this year.

The only clue was a distinct lack of boats actually moored in this short section of river bank.
Locals were probably well aware of the perils lurking underneath and stay well away.
For the innocent visitor a gap in a long line of boats on extremely busy moorings, means only one thing, somewhere to park.
Having been lifted out and bashed prop blade back into a useable profile, finally found somewhere else to moor much further downsttream.
Wandered back up to try and spot the offending lump of whatever caused the problem.Nothing obvious but impact was at least 3/4 metres out from shuttering.
In all fairness did actually spot a couple a pieces of damp A4 attached to a a couple of trees, set back on other side of path.
Notices warned, in very small type, that one should not moor here.
HBC must have already been aware of the problem. Did contact HBC with no response.
B1 did take the matter up on my behalf and investigations did actually take place however it looks as though the lumps are still down there, awaiting their next victim.

I am not sure whether it was 'ROCK" but its flipping shallow and its hard stuff so it hurts!
Blackfeather - just the bit where the new campshedding is, looks like whoever put the bank in chucked all the hardcore in the river. Anywhere further up or down, as far as i know is OK.
