Of course, the overall diameter isn't the same for all sizes of water pump. Mine was a small one on a Volvo Penta MD1.

Yes I am sure. I just wished to demonstrate that if we know the size a supplier can be found
What we need is to get the O-Ring data from most of the common engine pumps.
I modified my pump by fitting studs into the pump body and wing nuts to tighten the pump back plate. This allowed the gasket and back plate to be located easier so the need for O-Rings and knurled screws less important.
Do you know the size of your pump O-Ring

My ready-use spare pump has that arrangement. I bought the studs and wingnuts as a kit from a chandlery.

Ebay certainly has O-rings in a vast range of sizes and various materials, but alternatively it also lists O-ring cord in all diameters. With this and a tube of super-glue it's straight-forward to make bespoke O-rings for a pump cover-plate.

I have just measured the size of the o-ring supplied by Speedseal (before they stopped trading) for the pump on my Vetus M3.10 engine. It is 51mmID 1.5mm Dia section. Anyone else measured theirs?
