Now speed seal doesn't exist I cant buy direct so does any one know the size of the 'o' ring for the cover on the 20 size pump as fitted to the Volvo MD2020 (larger pump model)

Many thanks

I cannot give you the size of that particular 'O' ring but, just in case nobody can offer you the sizes that you need, in general, what I would do is:
(1) measure accurately the diameter of the raised bit in the cover around which the ring will fit. This will be the internal diameter of the ring,
(2) measure the height of the same and then divide that by 0.8. This allows for the usual 80% compression of an 'O' ring.

A good source for 'O' rings is a place that services construction machinery and equipment that uses hydraulics like JCBs, bulldozers, excavators and similar earth-moving units. Given a choice, go for the neoprene rings: slightly more expensive but are resistant to oils.

Also, remember that it is relatively easy to make O-rings with the material, a razor blade and some superglue. However, I expect that the Speedseal ones were a standard size.

They probably are a standard size but not something the usual suppliers of O rings seem to supply. The diameter of the rings is easy to find, but the thickness is so fine (about 1mm) that I have yet to find a supplier.
