Just got back from Spain. When I arrived at the marina I was told the car parking fees (previously free) were now 600 euros and 50 euros for the key to the new gate.

Any one else experiencing foreign mooring probs

I have a 24ft Sport fisher in Italy. When I first took it to the marina to put in the water the captinaria di Porto said no space.I tried for three days to get it in and onto a berth to no effect. They strung me along ,messed me about and generally stressed me out, left me waiting about,Told me to come back tomorrow.
Then my wife went to see her cousin who runs a charter boat from the port ands is well thought of there and hey presto it was in the water in 10 minutes,on a berth in 20 and we have been best buddies with the lads down there ever since.Still have to pay though but we get a good discount and always barter and complain as is the norm there
It is who you know and what you offer them out there.Bribery is a national passtime there along with ripping off the tourists.......and the only form of payment is Cash.
Im sure Spain must be more civilised.

The car parking is still free in Denia although I've noticed other marinas along the coast operate a card entry system which I guess you have to pay for but €600 sounds ridiculous if you are already a berth holder.

Check out Puerto Banus - over 1000 euros per year....... And if you are not driving a Ferrari or Porsche etc forget it....

Still parking outside is double that so cheap at half the price..

Hello Phil.
Do like I do just drive round the back of the restaraunt at the end of the breakwater, theres a dirt track leads into the marina, I tried sharing a card with another berth holder but found I spent half the day walking up & down the marina returning card to hiding place. Half the time the barriers stuck up anyhow. I wonder how long its going to be untill they increase the berthing charges.

Nat, how are you, I came to see if you were arround,
I moved marinas, I hate uncertainty and only had a 1/4ly arrangement with Mark and he sub let from a berth holder so who knwe what might happen.
The parking thing just made my mind up.
We went to San Pedro, its fab. Did you buy the new Boat?

Hi Phil.
Very well thanks. No joy with the new boat couldent get him down in price enough, but Ive put an offer in on the Chriscraft 322 thats up for sale in Cabo Roig at the moment were 10.000 euros apart but I think I will be buying it at the end of the day. Had problems with my sterndrive, keeps jumping out of foward if I go above 3000 rpm, they've had it out of the water twice now & still havent fixed it properly, so I gave them some serious earache & told them to stop bodging & just do it properly this time Im not bothered about cost I just want it right & I wouldent want to be selling it on to someone with a dodgy leg. I too am on quarterly terms but directly to the marina they wont take yearly in advance because charges are most definatly going to increase shortly. Did you have problems getting in to San Pedro ? I went to look round there last month & thought it was proper. any info would be most welcome as I too dont like the uncertainty of not knowing..........Nat

Good luck
