Re: Southsea Marina - Thanks

Thanks very much to all concerned, had a great two days of calm seas and blue skies with an overnight at Yarmouth. Sub barrier worked as advertised but without the advice I would have been worried, fortunately there were also a few other boats going through, so I guess it would have been OK, but it was nice to know I was doing the right thing.

Southsea Marina, is that channel tight or what?? I've got about 30 degrees of rudder angle but actually can't get that much because of the way the rudder is mounted so it slides up and down, gives it some slack, a couple of times I thought I was going to whack a post. The marina's pretty tight too, the berth I have was easy but I thought the other drivers did really well slotting 43' Motor Cruisers into their berths. Also, 'orrid little wobbly pontoons like Cobb's Quay, still people are nice and the price is right.

Don't think I'll be popping out every weekend though, my nerves won't cope!

Pontoons ....

Many places have the problem now .... my lass fell of ours in Hayling ..... there was no boat on other side of the finger...... if a boat is alongside other side - it steadies it a bit.

But Haylings are not worst not unusual .... there are a few more bad spindly ones in marinas quite close .....

Coming out of Southsea .... a big Storebro style Mobo came up channel as I was going out ... would he give any room to allow little ol' me pass .... nope - I had to take avoiding action and just missed a post .... I even have it on video ! Of course we had the typical Thames Motor Yacht looking guy up there on fly-bridge .... helming his pride and joy in with his Peaked Cap and Navy sweater, Blue ensign proudly displayed .......

Glad you like it though - I do .... !!
