Southamton Boat Show

6 to 7 metre Dennis. I want something capable of reasonable distance cruising our South West waters all year round (Reasonable weather permitting of course).

That will be a lovely Rib. I assume you will be keeping your big boat....... How long ago was it you had the Fletcher

Fletcher was almost 10 years ago now.....time flies.

Princess 40 is going unfortunately. Circumstances dictate I need something smaller for a while that I can handle myself very easily. As long as I'm on the water I'm not too bothered what I'm in!!

Quick question bear in mind this is my first time to go here - is it just boats or is there other trade stands i.e life rafts radios etc ?
I am looking at getting a new life raft and a hand held vhf and maybe some other goodies if available

You will get all of that several times over at the show and much more besides. Prices are not always as cheap as online though

It is a big show

Another silly question! I’m planning on going over to the used boat show aswell, do I need tickets for the used boat show?

No just rock up.... if you're going to Hamble you can take a look at my Prestige 34S at the WHY boats used boat show at Deacons :D [/cheeky plug]

I'll be at Southampton possibly both weekends for a day. I think it does need two days to have a proper look around, esp if taking time to try new electronics and talk to sales guys... and have a beer.. and eat...

Also you can get car parking near the show for a reasonable price in the multi story car parks. Cant remember exactly how much it is but I am a tight git and remember thinking it was very reasonable and close

At Marlands car park it's £5 per day, and it's only a short walk to the show entrance.

What’s the best/cheapest way of getting from the airport to the show? We are flying in on the Friday morning staying over Friday night and hoping to go over to the used show on the Saturday.

Train from Southampton Parkway, which is next to the airport, to Southampton Central, then it's about a 10 minute walk to the show. Alternatively, there is a bus that runs from the airport to Southampton:-

Uni-link
The U1C bus service operates between Southampton Airport, Southampton University, the city centre and the Waterfront. It runs every 15 minutes Monday - Friday during University term time, every 10 minutes Monday - Friday during University vacation time, every 10 minutes on Saturdays and every 15 minutes on Sundays and Public Holidays.
There's also a U1A service which operates in the opposite direction; from the city to the airport.

To get to the Used Boat Show at Swanwick, you can get a train from Southampton Central to Bursledon, which is a 3 minute walk to the show.

Thank you very much for the info. We are staying at the Grand Harbour Hotel near to the show, would be easier to get a taxi on the Saturday to the used show? Any idea on the cost of a taxi from the airport to this hotel?

Hey guys, new to the scene here, looking to purchase a cabin cruiser through the winter, but for now I only have a tender with a 4hp 2 stroke on it. I will be going to the Boat Show, wondered if anyone attending or in the area might have a 7/8mtr cabin cruiser, 4 berth that wouldnt mind showing a newbie, that would be great before I look to purchase? Or to meet anyone if they are boating in around Southampton. As I do love a bit of boating, not sure what the weather is going to be like, but I was thinking about launching the tender off the opposite side of the estuary and boating across to the opposite side where the boat show is being held, but not sure if there is anywhere I can land? If anyone knows, that would be ace, as I have only been out in it once since buying it, so thought the boat show might be a good excuse to get out one last time before winter, although Im might suffer from a serious case of boat envy being on little pop pop lol.

remember the used show is not at the main show also there was not much there last year we tried contacting brokers 100 miles radius of the show to view boats ,problem was all the brokers are at the show working for manufacturers ,but i hope its better this year for you

I've jsut done a quick check out of idle curiosity the train times and prices. We live between Stcokport and Buxton and return is £117 and takes almost 5 hours on a stopping train. The flight from Manchester takes one hour and is £121. If I was going, and I'm not, guess which I wouldn't be using.
