I feel for you at the moment.
Your fundamental point seems to have been misunderstood.
Selfishness.
In other words it is the action of people attending large gatherings that spreads the disease.
And that isn't fair to people who don't go to those gatherings.
That said, if Covid is going to be with us for the longer term, then society will have to adjust.
There isn't a simple answer to this but society (as an entity) will have to take a greater risk in the future.
And, IMO, society (as a whole) at the moment isn't ready to take the extra risk.
I would hate to be in government at the moment.
Any decisions that government makes will be dammed if they make them and dammed if they don't.
