Is there a boat builder on the forum that can help me with this?

My daughter is doing a photography course at university and one of her projects is....'Men at Work' the work being of the traditional kind. One of the subjects she would really like to take some shots of is of a traditional boat builder.

Shouldn't take to long and likewise shouldn't get in the way, just some time to set up her gear and get some shots. These will be in black and white and she will also process these herself so can provide copies if wanted..

She would be very grateful .

Regards Nick

Hesitant hand in the air...

What sort of work is she looking for? Classic yachts and a yard ful of shavings and old machinery, or something simpler? At the moment I'm only working on dinghies so can't offer much atmosphere really... anything but close ups will show the rest of the garden etc. Might be back on bigger stuff soon though. If not it's probably worth her knocking on doors around chichester harbour. The conservancy site has a fairly good list of yards and what they do, then phone or visit direct. I don't suppose anyone would protest if they were offered a nice promotional photo they can use in the future.

These dinghies, traditional clinker? Not ply, larch perchance 12" sailing with centre plate? I may be interested in a 12' Clinker sailing dinghy, open, centreplate, larch planking, mahogany and steamed oak ribs, rudeer and mast, lug. Have you the idea? What do you do? Thanks for any help, you can PM me and I'll give you an e mail.

I think I read that one of the C&N Gelyce class is in a shed in Portchester, that might be a suitable subject, failing that the Elephant yard at Burseldon?
