Sounds like the place you mean is the Minquiers....... I've gone round them, but never been through the middle.

Where are L'Echiqueles ??

I'm fascinated.......can't find them on my (not so large scale) chart.
 
if not the rock, this is the southernmost building (iun the minquiers)
