Took delivery of a 1987 Cruisers International 224 the other day!! I'm bursting to tell you all!! What a difference from my Shetland Family Four!! Delighted I am!! She's beautiful (V8 Volvo petrol apart!!).
Also, she trails really well with a new trailer from SBS @ Wolverhampton (recommend them). Haven't put her in the water yet..stern drive servicing, cleaning, polishing, etc. She's been well looked after...very clean inside..which suggests a well looked after boat all round. The survey on her was excellent too (see previous postings on low compression in one cylinder and Samurai diesel conversions)..I look forward to the 'fun' of slipping her into the water, all 1.7 tonnes of her..hence extension ploe on trailer!!.....Please share my utter EXCITEMENT!! Honk if you see a blue Discovery and me 224 on an SBS trailer!!
If only my beloved Wolves had have made it to the Premiership, my year would have been complete.......

Good for you!

You've brightened up my morning, hope you get loads of fun from your new boat, where do you intend launching her? Which engine have you got?

It's good to see someone getting excited at the prospect of using their new acquisition.
Cheers,
John

Re: Good for you!

What you mean Underpants. I cant even use my old
aqua- zision ? It's blowing a gale every time I look out. Only got a list of cancelled trips. Held up today cos. New tennants bog has dropped through the floor, so now sits in dinning room! Not only that but, works pickup is in the garage so Merc is on standby duty as bog hearse. So I'm sat here immoblised.
Yours unexcited.

No one can force me to come here-----------

Thanks.....glad I've done something useful today!
Vovo V8 AQ 211A / sterndrive Volvo 290.
At Stourport Marina, on River Severn. Decent slipway...well in with owners..she'll go in water 'till end July, out again, then trailed to Falmouth, out again then trailed to Plymouth (Mayflower Marina)...roll on!

Re: Good for you!

SBS trailers are bl**y good. I got one with the s/h 7.5m RIB I just bought. Thing is built like a brick outhouse (3.5 tonne capacity). Tows like a dream apart from the fact that the suspension is so heavy duty that I need to fill the fuel tank (60 galls) up to get a decent ride quality! Had cause to speak to Tony Wyler @ SBS asking some silly questions about trailer. He was knowledgable and patient!

Have fun with your new toy. Mayflower marina very good when you get down to Plymouth. No slip at marina but one just past marina and flats. Good slip but access is a bit tight for turning rig around. Last weekend people at flats were very helpful and opened security gates so we could do three (or nine) point turn!

Suggestion

Don't know what the slip's like at Mayflower, but it's a bit awkward even by road and stuck well out of town. Why not try Queen annes Battery, huge wide easy slip and 5 minutes walk to the Barbican. Also more convenient for the Sound. Also being the right side of Plymouth much easier to get to by road.

Re: Good for you!

Have you been on the Scotch already??!! What's all this about your bog, presumably you mean there's a small problem at home.

Anyway blowing a hoolie down here, no doubt RaF at sea!

Did you say Wolves?

Congrats on new boat. Switch your allegiance to Man City then your life will be perfect!

PS agree other comments about QAB being better than mayflower. You can never park your car at mayflower

Re: Suggestion

Yes, we've used the slip a few times before @ mayflower....nice and steep, but a bugger to turn and angle the boat...so on reflection, might have her craned in.
QAB tend to raft visitors and it's more expensive and electricity is extra. Might slip boat in there though and float round to Mayflower..hmmm, thanks for your musings!

No never, tho City clearly better side..(like when they stuffed us @ Molineux). Never had a problem parking @ Mayflower, even in summer.....trailer too!!

Re: Good for you!

Agreed, Tony Wyler (met him) sure knows his stuff.
Already been to Mayflower several times....agree that turning circle is non existant..why do they build slips that are bloody difficult / impossible to access properly??

Catch you later.

Re: Sooo HAPPY!!!!!!!(cliffsorge)

Thanks, lots of questions to compare 224s ie fuel and water tanks/Mercruiser not standard fitment etc etc. But, having just got in after playing drums with a blues band, I'm knackered!!
I just keep looking at ours parked up on the trailer @ Stourport...can't believe it!!
Can't wait to try her out at sea (Plymouth/Falmouth in August)
I'l keep in touch as it's useful to compare notes/problems/cruises etc.
