Could well be true, but who's going to police it? Nobody, thats who! It's a law put in place, to show people something is being done. Also, so when somebody gets killed, they can charge them under this law, it's unenforceable, in the present economic climate.

Most harbours (areas where you can be within 50mtrs of another boat & 500mtrs of the shore) have speed limits, which vary sometimes from 6knts to 10knts. So what's your problem? See the other posts regarding speeding boats & PWC's for the other viewpoint.

Re: Somebody told me that speed limits have been s

5 knots? That's less than many harbour speed limits. Sounds like a good idea but most of the big white yachts (especially the sailing ones) motor in and out of the marinas and harbours around our area at nearly twice that speed, so unless you've got a plethora of small and ancient boats up there, plod will be kept very busy, even when the jetskis have gone home.
I wish him luck though, we can't top 4 knots in flat water so when Mr Moody or Mr Princess hurtles past two yards away at 7 knots with a wash like the Titanic's, we tend to come to rather bouncy stop.

my problem was that i was anchored off the old lifeboat station in abersoch the other weekend about 50 mtrs from the shore, when 2 drongos on pwcs came hurtling past about 20 mtrs away at an estimated 60 mph heading for the main abersoch beach. now if they want to put their lives in danger please go and kill themself, but dont endanger me or mine when you are doing it.
if you had been reading the papers you would have seen that north wales police chief constable has a thing about motorists speeding and "if you break the law you will be prosecuted" my argument is that if he is going to uphold the law without question then he should uphold this particular law as well, but the question i asked is does any one know whether this is indeed a law.
