Well not quite, the exact opposite :) Some photos taken on Sunday anchored in Osborne bay, no wind in sight.

Not wishing to be offensive, but I wonder why peeps would motor out to a flat bit of water - and anchor with loads of other boats to just sit there and then motor back to their own mooring/berth?

Why not just stay at the mooring/berth? Or better still find a nice pub/cafe/park/secluded lane etc?

Because it is all about being on the water.

Change of scenery being out of the marina nice flat calm anchorage need I elaborate + lots more ?

IMHO if you have to question that, I don't know why you own a boat.No offence intended ( I think)

At least it has a purpose unlike going out for a sail which seems to consist of going in one direction very slowly until you're bored and then turning round, switching the engine on and going home. Each to his own on the water. There is nothing in this world quite so relaxing and making you forget about the working week's stress as swinging to your own hook whilst sipping whatever your poison happens to be

We anchored watched the F1 race, had lunch, sat in cockpit enjoying sun then back to Portsmouth via the P1 race in Stokes bay. Paul (Romans8) noticed us in Stokes bay and motored up, we had a natter as we drifted watching P1 race. We opened up taps on the way back. Vid below taken from Pauls Antares 30 looking at my one.

Perfect way to spend an afternoon in my book.

All sailors know exactly where they are going, though they may not be able to tell you until they get there...

Nobody hurt or seasick I hope,

it can be very dangerous at anchor in a force 8;)

Funny you mention that. On Saturday we anchored in Sandown bay in almost identical conditions for some unsuccessful fishing. On departure Dad went up front to open up anchor locker, lost footing and went head first in to bar across pulpit. Dripping blood from cut on nose and small cut on forehead, was an excuse to use first aid kit. I let him have a drive on the way back to lighten the mood, he was annoyed that simple mistake lead to him nearly flying overboard. Yes he was wearing life jacket before anyone asks :)

My apologies to all, especially:-
Tam-Lin, Mad Boater, prv, Deleted User and and Anders P42.

I was in a particularly bad mood this morning and did not have brain-in-gear.
Of course, being "on the water" is what it's all about.

In my defence, I've always preferred solitude to being in a crowd.

Once again, my apologies.
