Cracking pictures of what looks to have been a cracking weekend!
It's so nice to see posts of boats used for their intended purpose. Thanks for posting.

and you all remember the silver bladerunner parked up at Hamble Point for years, well I assume this is it, making a complete pain of itself as it decided 6 knots was not as fun as 20 knots out of the Hamble ffs, a tsunami wake followed, actually got my anchor wet was the severity of the waves he made. The pic was taken before he had got to the fleet of optimists, but I would imagine he cause havoc, just so dangerous. I was flicked the bird by the skippers mate after my long blast on the fog horn... quality folk obviously. Where are the Harbour masters when you want them..

... and will do it all again next weekend![]()
No, actually I don’t think it was dangerous because I was there and took the situation in context. You however do not and give this throw away comment I guess to produce a reaction.. I have left my boat on autopilot and made myself a coffee before now, do you think that is dangerous to?
She appears to still be for sale

Interesting boat that, came back over from Grenada where i believe it was used to shuttle people from the airport round to a hotel.
it was being listed for sale by a guy who is rather used to going fast and has a number of very very fast boats.
Very nice pics firefly. Thanks for posting. I agree with you on making coffee etc - it's all about the context.
SteveD, I see a tiny bit of fouling on TM's bum. Are you mooring her on the Hamble now rather than trailering her every time? She is a nice looking boat in profile- whoever drew her 10yrs ago did a nice job. Hope all well.
Actually there is some evidence that caffeine isn't that good for you.
Please keep posting and don't let those who don't understand the difference between diving a car and a boat put you of taking the pics.

If you're half way across the Channel, and there's nothing on the radar for 20 miles in any direction, then popping below for a coffee on autopilot at low speed isn't unreasonable.
Possibly not the best idea off Cowes on a Summer Saturday![]()
The initial situation was a boat on the plane in I think the Solent with the helmsman looking sideways taking pictures or possibly a video. If anyone thinks that is safe then god help us all.
This is from a bloke who proposed to drive around the roads with non functional brakes on his trailer!
No-one is saying that. The point you're missing is that it is necessary to look, but not constantly. If you look and see there is nothing that can possibly hit you from a certain direction/sector for the next minute, then it is ok to look away from that sector for say 30 seconds ( or 60 seconds to be precise). So you think it is safe to not look where you are going do you.

I drive my boat like this all the time. To give a better example, if you're doing 20 knots in wide open sea, perfect viz, nothing in sight or on radar for 10nm++, it is perfectly safe to leave the helm for several minutes.
That is what SteveD, owner/skipper of the s24 seems to be doing. It's not unsafe.
