Some good news for those of us who drive from the UK to our boats in Europe

Reckoned it's been a long time since we saw any "good news" to help cheer us up. Anyways, came across this and it will certainly be of interest to a number of folk on these forums: New-style driving licences and number plates mark one-year anniversary of Brexit as EU flag is removed - GOV.UK (www.gov.uk)

Now, all we need is for HMGov and Europe to allow travel!

The headline (new style number plates & driving licences) isn't, but if you read further down, it says "UK drivers who hold photocard licences will not need an international driving permit to drive in any of the 27 EU member states, Iceland, Norway, Switzerland or Liechtenstein. UK drivers won’t need to display a GB sticker in most EU countries if their number plate has GB or GB with a Union Flag on it."

But it wasn't known before both my wife and myself went to the Post Office and got our International Driving Permits!!

12 months before export is assumed (but may be 18 like your boat if assumed TA or 3 years if RGR allowed...... )

In Spain it's 6 months unless you are a Spanish resident.

Same in Portugal and it's illegal for a resident to drive a foreign registered vehicle.
