Some years ago a few of us in the motorbike club were discussing what a wonderfully mild winter it had been and how many days out we'd managed to get on our bikes, when Fred chimed in saying 'well I reckon it's been the worst bloody winter in fifteen years.' We sat in silent surprise until Fred added 'think about it... there'll be no new bike for me this year.'
The penny finally dropped; he owned a chain of three car body repair/respray garages around the NW of England... No snow and ice - fewer crashes - fewer repairs needed - no new motorbike.
