My engines are new and still under warranty but my tanks are old, I have no idea what is in them so I thought a dose of soltrom may clean them.

The more people that come up with anecdotal evidence re Soltron, the more legitimate the evidence becomes, unless it truly is placebo effect. I started using it last autumn and am pretty convinced the engine sounds better and runs with less smoke. I've just changed the fuel filters and the primary filter just had some clear gel like stuff in the bottom and the paper filter on the engine was lovely and clean. Anecdotal or not, I think it works, and that's all that counts on my boat.
