Solent weather this w/end

You must have missed the 2 declarations that last weekend was the "last".

So this weekends good weather is a myth. Do not believe anyone that tells you otherwise.

(Secretly I am looking forward to the high pressure ridge in the channel for Saturday and SW wind further north with rain on Sunday on Scotland)

grrrr!

We already lost the 1st weekend of the winter series to a flat calm last week, now windguru says 7kts of breeze at start time.....
I'll believe that when I see it!

My guess, dry, grey and drifty

[/ QUOTE ] Purfect as we are all going diving off the back of the Wight tomorra.

Enjoy!

It's absurd, last year we had 15-20 knots and similar temperatures every week until mid november!
When you think "Winter series" you don't think of floating around looking for zephers.

Bloody weather.

I'm out in it both days over the weekend. Nice now most people have put away their toys for the year. Shame the best weather seems to be happening now.

Still, more room for me. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

For you maybe. For me it doesn't get much worse than getting up at 5 to drive down and then just sit around in no wind.
Except if the RC start a race in almost no wind out of frustration and it becomes more of a test of luck than skill.

Give me 20 kts of breeze and rain every time!

A couple of the websites are suggesting F3 SE if you're lucky.

We are going out tomorrow for a potter, give me a shout if you are west of Calshot.

Then providing Committee boat for the West Solent series on Sunday morning (and the next 8 weeks), so hope not to be bouncing around at anchor for 3 hours.

Ooohhh great. I wonder if I can top the 40.6knts I did last weekend?

Are you around HP on Sunday Peter?

Don't care. Off to sunny Suffolk to have a last look at the new purchase before we put our names on the perforated bit of the contract.

Just hope that I don't end up with a fleet.

At least without wind the races aren't such a pain because all the boats are moving so slowly :-)

I'm doing the Royal Southampton Double Hander Solent Race on Sat and OK we don't want a buket full of breeze but 10 -12 kts would be nice!

Selsey to Lyme inshore forecast at 18:00 this evening is Variable becoming southeast 2 or 3, occasionally 4 later. We may be OK but we'll all need a bit of wind with spring tides!

Anyone else two handing?

The double hander

Did you get any wind at all. We were all set to go but it was so quiet, didn't bother. Looking at BrambleMet, did you get moving at all???????

Re: The double hander

Saturday - sailed from Calshot Spit to Newtown River entrance - maybe a F2 S.

Sunday - sailed from Newtown River Entrance to Castle Point - up to F3 E or SE. Tee-shirt weather

Motoring either side of the sailing.

Reward - a quiet night in Newtown, listening to England/France on the steam radio - and the avian dawn chorus next morning.
