Re: Going proactive

The one sunny weekend of the year would be good.

Damn, that was in April wasn't it?

Re: Going proactive

Certainly a Photo Fest ( followed by a overnite in Yarmouth) sounds a very attractive proposition.

Thank you for your initiative on this its great idea. I am now signed up and have another reason to buy a digital camera.

I came across the group while trying to find the website for something I thought was called www.solent.ships.com. While in the solent this weekend a 20ft motorboat displaying a sign with address similar to this took some pictures of Blewit. We were in the solent off the entrance to Langstone Harbour at the time. I have tried plenty of permutations of this address but not found a website. (Needless to say your group seems to be better promoted).

Has anyone come across this service and/or the correct website address?

Hi Mark

Yes the idea recieved quite a lot of attention when I first posted the idea earlier in the summer.

I have since contacted the PBO and Sailing Today to try and raise a bit of publicity for the idea but with no reply.....

The problem is that to work well there really needs to be quite a lot more perticipants, simply to get a reasonable chance of being near to another "swapper"

I wish I could think of a way to get the idea across to more people as I still think the idea has loads of potential.

Yes I can see that it still has rather a long way to go. I'm surprised that the magazines have not been more responsive but perhaps by word of mouth is going to be the best bet for a while.

Of course there is a lot of picture taking and swapping going on. I think the group should take the opportunity to get good shots of passing yachts. Once you take a picture of someone you are more inclined to have the favour returned. Its then a matter of communicating the web address. Perhaps we all need a portable sign board, to wip up on deck (after the return picture has been taken).

I had hoped my reply would have appeared on the ybw forum as a recent addition. Do I need to start a new topic for this?
