Solent Marina berths

I heard over the weekend that one Solent based marina currently has around 40 berths still available (around 15% of the total), and they have been advertising in the local media. This has to be the first time this has happened for many years.

It's part of a large group, but I don't suppose it will lead to a resduction in prices!!

Interesting, I am lead to believe that Drivers Wharf not far away is now nearly full because they have taken on yachts and power boats.

I know one marina that has been cold calling people who visited last year to see if we want a permanent berth, only a short ferry trip from Town Quay

[/ QUOTE ] No the original Drivers Wharf yard is the one you can see from the Northam Bridge. Its ashore storage but not under cover so any size of vessel can be catered for, even yachts with masts.

AFAIK Universal Marina on the Hamble still only 70% full

OV are planning to build some more finger pontoons for the summer so that's a possible..

Was down at OV at the weekend. Still lots of empty spaces. Maybe they're still off for the winter. Very windy so not too many out and about.

Might be something to do with the forthcoming hotel being built. I did hear some berth holders had moved out for the duration. Not confirmed though.

I guess the demise of the Challange business must have given OV loads of free space.
