I have a list of Solent buoys in my GPS. However, I'd like to add what each buoy actually is - port lateral, north cardinal etc etc.

Anyone have or know where to get a list?

I know I could always work through the charts but there are loads of them.

Ta, Dave.

My 2000 copy of 'The Solent Book' (a small but fat reference book sponsored by Cowes Yacht Haven and issued every year (mine cost £8.50) is full of useful and boring information such as a list of buoyage including yellow spherical racing marks (seasonal), cardinal, red can, green conical, spherical yellow with X top mark, spherical orange with X top mark etc etc.
A simplified fold out chartlet of the Solent shows the positions of these marks and an attached list of 50 named buoys with relative bearing and distance table between them. Another page lists the buoys with lat/long co-ordinates, though this list is even more comprehensive (i.e. a lot more than 50).
I haven't replaced my copy with the latest book since I've been refitting my boat for the last two years!
Most chandlers in the Southampton area seemed to have this book for sale on their counters and if and when I again sail these waters I'll invest in the latest copy.

Why do you need to know? shurely if your aware of your position with respect to the marked channels (and you should be) then you would know what the bouy was going to be before you got there?

Because Burgundyben is a woosle and is a little afraid about being hunted by the woosle hunter /forums/images/icons/laugh.gif

Re: Burgundyben

was not meaning to have a pop at him, sorry if it sounded that way, I was trying to provoke a thought process, I worry that people get too dependant on thier gps, there was a post hereabouts asking if way points could be downloaded form the web, much better to test your navigation skills to take you to the places and create the way points.
