Hi All,
has anyone installed a rutland hrsi charger and a steca solar controller on the same battery bank.
having just don ethis i get the steca pushing the battery voltage up to 16+ V and them everything trips. I also get no input output reading on the steca. but the panels are charging the batteries.
what are you all using to "mix" wind charging and solar charging?
Regards
Roy

We use the Rutland HRDX for a Rutland 913 and 85W of Kyocera solar. The HRDX does split charging between two banks and can handle upto 100W of solar.

Not sure of the spec of the HRSI - but if we ever get more solar I will use a dedicated solar regulator and put it solely to the domestics in addition to the HRDX. The HRDX seems to cope ok with the alternator providing charge (it just dumps the solar / wind power to prevent over charging) so would imagine it would do the same with an additional solar charger.

Hi Jonny,
Yep i used a hdrx but so far has blown 3 sets of transistors, every time we had gales they popped!!!!
so split the regulators, the hrsi does a pretty good job.
but the steca is being a pain.
think i will have to return it and try another make..unless someone has any idea's.
regards
Roy

Hi all, i use a aerogen 4 with regulator, that suplies 2 battery banks. also with solar panel there is a one way block in the form of a diode. Everything works well, ie. charge diverts into a dump resister that gets hot as it accepts all the charge when batteries get to 14.2 volts..... regards roy

This is an old thread, found on google not the site search button.

We are on board currently, the fridge went into economy mode so i turned it off, then 20 minutes later the Marlec HRSi controller started beeping and the first LED started to flash red, nothing in the instructions about and audible warning on the controller Any Ideas gratefully received ??

According to the instructions a flashing red led indicates the battery voltage is below 11V.

There are two LEDS the first was flashing red and the 2nd one was green so the battery voltage was over 13V the first one flashing red I guess indicates the turbine has gone into slow mode but we had a rapid audible sounding as well and there is no mention of any audible warning in the instructions
