So, you\'re at the boat show

hello, bag-carrying types. No, not you on the stand you're sposed to be handing out bags! I mean the Visitors. I do hope you're having a nice time at the show. If you post a response to this you get a free prize from the MBM stand!
Actually, I made that up. The show is so er blimmin interesting that you are faffing about on the internet instead of looking at boats

Now, your other half/kids have now wandered off. Now you're gonna run after them and lose your bag. And leave it logged in so that somebody can use you name....

No, not yet.

I'm off tomorrow. Decided not to use the Earls Court guide to parking put forward by a certain gentleman a while back. Will risk First Great western instead.

Daughter wants water ski's, I want that Camargue 50. Probably just make do with the ski's.

Re: So, d\'ya feel lucky?

in other words, will you buy a return ticket? rail strikes, see? I heard the phrase "collective bargaining" on the news today, possibly the worst PR day for Slightly Tatty Labour for some years. I bet Prescott will be the first to utter the phrase Social Contract, and then get sacked.

Ah rail strikes, the easiest way to get a free upgrade to first class, due to the appalling service of late you understand.

Will be using this excuse on Sunday when off to the LBS with the missus and credit card, to buy some sensible clothing for the D Skipper in April, understand they sell at a discount?

Re: The money unloading begins

You'll be great at boating with such enthusiasm for unloading cash.

If you need a hat, a Tilley hat is v good, but not cheap. Is this boat in med? If so, no special clothing needed (or any clothing, for that matter...).

Need sensible clothing for Day Skipper course, south coast england in April. A Tilley hat you say, will keep an eye out.

Re: Tilley Hat

Just checked one out, its a bit Indiana Jones! do you your self sport one?

Sounds about right fleece and jacket, I've seen a Henri-Lloyd deck coat I quite like. Will it be completely OTT to assume I will need some sort of salopets or will a good pair of jeans do the trick?

Re: Tilley Hat

frayed so. But they are one of the few (praps the only ) hats that stay on at 30knots. Also i was on a sailing catamaran as the ballast whatsit hanging off the side, got dunked, and hat still stayed on. No, I make no money. Wife hates it, admittedly. Praps produce hat shortly after watching film?

Re: salopettes

You can use ski gear for one-off solent trip. Thermal underwear can be a good idea or failing that wife tights. Jeans okish (not really recommended cos they shrink to your skin) but overtrousis on exposed sailing boat. Probly fine if not raining with cheapy thermals and jeans, and lots of spare pairs of jeans.

re jacket, don't get the clanky clanky things to clip on a front, and some jackets have so much blimmin velcro that wherever you move your arm it stick to kacket all the time.

Re: Tilley Hat

Now if you'd got DRUNK and the hat stayed on then that would certainly be a variable in the purchase direction.
If you have in fact been drunk in charge of you're hat and it failed to leave you then please let me know, 35 quid seems a small price to pay.

Re: salopettes

Tights/stockings work for me, but then I don't have hairy legs. I've also got windsheeter wetproof type leggings you pull on over thermals, tights, jeans etc. You can also get a clip thingy that clips your hat to your collar, so the theory goes. HE still lost his whilst trying to fix collar to thingy and thingy to cap.

Re: Tilley Hat

I am drunk very often, and hat hides red eyes, so tilley hat still passes your test. Also can keep things in little secret pocket in hat, which is special attraction just like school shoes used to have.
