Nope its not another of those pathetic poles that suck!

But with the variety of people who post here I wondered which of those could be deemed to be the most skilled and hardy overall.

Could it be the Solent sailors biting thier lips from stress dodging the 'Wight Link Ferries' and dinghys?

Or the hardy Scots wi Kilts ah flappin on a typical Scottish summers day at 3 deg c, dodging rocks and salmon in a F8?

Maybe the East coast sailor with cheeks squeezed tightly together sliding over mudbanks trying to make Saafend for openin time.

The above are are but just a few mere examples as I realise there is a wealth of knowledge and skill that log on every day here on YBW.......so lets have your opinions who are the best sailors and why?

Not me, gov, I'm happy if I get off my mooring and get back again without going aground (no depthsounder), hitting a fishing boat (not paying attention listening to iPod) or just losing the plot whilst trying to read all of my instruments.

I nominate jimi as the best sailor because he's brave enough to sail a plastic bath tub across the channel on a regular basis.

Our good friends the French.

After all it's not their fault that they are... well, you know...

I guess that some are good and some are bad, and some are just ugly?

Nor me Guv, I suppose I'm average on a very good day!

Don't know whether it's just me, but I'm still relieved to get the boat alongside without dings. Especially to the bloomin great Princess next to us in the marina, we all breath in to make the boat narrower as we slide into our berth.

Maybe it is the quiet ones that go about their business without drama and distress. The quiet ones that are competent and capable to sort out the problems themselves and never seem to need rescue but will help others and then vanish into the background quietly. They are out there but they are not easily seen because they are quiet /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
