Hi,

On our first year of liveaboard life and now in the Western Med, for the last three months the weather has not been that much better than it was in Scotland! What´s going on! It can´t always be like this, can it´?

In Feb we had -2c over night.
In March winds of 63´ ( and we were sailing)
Also in March 2 weeks being effectivly stormbound.

Easter weekend we had three days of gales, and lashing rain in day time temps of under 10 degrees, whiles the UK seemed to be having a nice time.

Last Easter we sailed down the Irish Sea in shorts and used the windscoops that have yet to come out in the Med.

Seriously we have herad that this is another El Nino year, does anybody know moreabout the weather that makes this year unusual, or is´nt it?

Thanks

Well last summer was unusually hot, so perhaps we're paying the price?

You can find bucketloads of weather data at http://www.ecmwf.int/which might help?

We plan on joining you later this summer so I hope the weather improves /forums/images/icons/smile.gif

I think its called 'global warming'! which always seemed to me to be the biggest misnomer for climate change going, as it results in: more storms, more cold weather, higher winds etc, bad weather in places that used to be reasonably settled, and better weather than normal in other places. In other words - everythings getting all stirred up.

The 64k$ question is why? Is it fossil fuels as the alarmists tell us, or is it just old planet earths atmosphere going through another convulsion similar to those that caused the ice ages - and ended them too long before the advent of the infernal combustion engine etc?
