So whats up at Sunseeker

You know what? That post and Adrianwool's post say loads about you 2 guys. To make no apology at all and just keep digging (AW's case) or to make an apology but qualify it as "small" and "in return for" something just speaks volumes about your characters. Of course you're both free to do as you wish, but people with integrity who make an insult like Adrian's apologise and withdraw it at the first opportunity, and when they apologise they do it unreservedly rather than halfheartedly Westie34 style.

Yep JFm that ain't an apology at all, it is more of an unprincipled wriggle...

An exhange of personal messages has taken place between myself and jfm (and other unkown people, although one owned up), jfm comes across as a genuine person with good intent. So I am going to make a small apology in return for the one he made in that I was perhaps a bit too 'gruff' in my responses. Perhaps we could now end to this as I will not be posting anymore on the matter.

re the question of being on the forum I have explained that to jfm.

I'm off back to the lounge where it is safer, I only got here because my computer did not take me to my favorites page of the lounge and I had to log in again, otherwise I would never have seen this thread.

Sorry for any disturbance caused over here!

Westie34, you are bang out of order re rumour mongering, have you seen the headline that MBM is running on this web site?

See

Did someone not complain recently that the Forum has become uninteresting and bordering on boring????

That was me. Enjoying this one though. I have a bigger spade if Westie wants to borrow one.

But, I have to admit that if I were in his shoes and was in the process of burying the proceeds of a now sold business into a boat, I would have raised a few questions having read the start of this thread.....but used a bit of diplomacy to tease out the answers and kept the blind panic in the background.

Wrong JFM, you have no knowledge of my integrity or character, similary I have no knowledge of yours, (nor would I presume to have one), what you are expressing is an opinion.

absolutely right MC, I think I would have started off with a pm to jfm to fill me in on the background knowledge rather than attacking the messenger as he did.... but that's just me.... and it wouldn't have made such radical post...

Do you guys have nothing better to do all day then sit on your PC writing **** about a very successful 50 year old company?! Fairline are a good boat, but much less quality finish then a Sunseeker. Thank god Westie was only joking about getting it wrong and ordering a Fairline instead!

what you are expressing is an opinion
'course it is, as it was yours re. "'botty kissing".
But as it happens, yours resulted (maybe involuntarily, if so do tell) as offensive for anyone who argued against westie34 post, as I did.

...So I am going to make a small apology in return for the one he made .....

Now i'm sure you're Happy1, the subtle wind up and playing dumb are hallmarks of the man. If you're not, then I think you might have a half brother you've never met? :-)

Sure, I'm expressing an opinion, based on your posts today, which is that you lack integrity and are rude. Keep digging if you want, but it would be smarter to put the spade down and reflect on how insulting/offensive your post was

Now wasn't someone complaining the other day about the lack of interesting posts on here and the suggestion that it might be because newbies are put off from posting?

Perhaps the aggrieved parties on here should consider turning the other cheek?

No, there was someone else also complaining - I remember because I replied to the thread. Perhaps we should attach a health warning to anyone watching and say it is normally safe to post on here?

"Suffice to say, if this country had retained more manufacturing and had a bit less emphasis on easy money from banking & insurance,"

Just like Japan ....?

My God it’s good here!!

I’m a raggie and only popped in for a nose. If it’s like this here all the time it’s almost enough to make me change to the dark side..

At a guess, bearing in mind there were liquidity problems (which I wont put detail on publicly, but for a while i wouldn't have placed a new-boat deposit with s/seeker, and I told various new-boating buyer forumites privately about these concerns), some new blood with "distress" experience has been put on the board to take some of RB's executive functions, as a compromise deal between the largest shareholder, the smaller shareholder and the banks.

Absolutely nothing wrong with this post from jfm imho. To get back to the original post............ Sunseeker today are nothing like the company that RB started 4 decades ago, he recognises this and understands that if the company/brand is to remain strong and continue to grow then succession planning is vital. How many well known brands from the past are no longer with us today because their founders didnt understand that?

Sunseeker is still run today like a small family business within a cottage industry, the problem is that it has outgrown the sector it started out in and needs to bring in expert help for areas of its business it has no real expertise in. It is still relatively (for a company of its size) inefficient in its manufacturing process, cost control and administration. Its design ethos and engineering are still very much there though. They simply have to become more profitable per unit.

They have constantly made the excuse to themselves of being too busy fullfilling orders over the past few years to tackle these issues, although they always accepted they existed and that they would have to swallow the bitter pill one day. Cometh 2008/9 and a reducing order book that brings with it cashflow issues and that day has come, possibly not too soon for its minority shareholder.

RB will still be the only influence on the creative/direction and his brother JB is back to resume control of the engineering with SR still very much in control of their markets. It is in these areas that their passion lies, they just need someone as passionate for the manufacturing/purchasing/administration. For me, it is a smart move. Actually, some of these new people have been in place for a while now and have already started to make their mark with many noticeable improvements at the factory. Unfortunately, premature and inaccurate reporting forced an unplanned announcement from RB which many took to mean the worst.

I presently own a s/s bought new in 2006 and recently ordered its replacement in October 2009 (deposit paid) for Feb 2011 delivery and I can tell you that I very much welcome this news. Long overdue imo and I believe that contrary to other posts, it will only help in ensuring the timely delivery of the new boat.

FYI

Definition of Integrity

1. adherence to moral and ethical principles; soundness of moral character; honesty.
2. the state of being whole, entire, or undiminished: to preserve the integrity of the empire.
3. a sound, unimpaired, or perfect condition: the integrity of a ship's hull.

Who possesses all of these in spades then?.
