So what make is my generator engine? Help

Just done the water pump, all screwed back together and no drips, water comin' out of the exhaust.

Got me thinking the genset in it's box is G&M, the spares that arrived from them for the pump are Yanmar and the impellor is for a Yanmar GM10

Could it be a GM10?

how many cylinders ? Any distinguishing colours ? Any manufacturer's name plate/ ID ?

Yanmar supply OEM engines to a number of generator makers.

it's painted white, single cylinder, engine plate is G&M so no clues there.

If its an old G and M circa late 80s then they used a volvopenta engine a 2001 type, or 2002/2003 depending on KW size.

electric start, raw water cooled, 3.5KVA doesn't look volvo ish

And there is a button to press to overide low oil pressure cutoff when you press the starter button

the present TNV series are too big (=>10kW) . I have a 7 kvA LA series, but it's air-cooled.

There's a TF, but again, it's quite modern.

If G&M sent you spares, then they would be a better source of info, perhaps ?
