Thanks so much for this. I will investigate the Johnson site and see if a cheaper pump direct from them can be bought.

Ok, so I got the water pump refurbed for the 3rd time and used in anger today. It still leaks!!
Looks like I'll have to bite the bullet and buy new! 😬

An autopsy of the old one would be interesting if you have the time, with plenty of pics. Bloody awful service, I've never encountered a pump that can't be rebuilt unless there's gross damage to a component.

I don't have the tools or the work space to do it. And tbh I can't be bothered. I just want to go fishing!
If there were somewhere else to send it I probably would. But the firm who did it are the firm that others send theirs to!

If you box it up I'll pay postage to send it to me; tearing it down and trying to work out what's wrong will be an amusing diversion, if I solve the conundrum you can have it back as a spare!

If you're prepared to look at it, I'll pay the postage! 👍🏻

So new pump arrived today which is great as I only ordered it on Monday.
Full pump including inlet and outlet port connections £530 inc import duty.
Not bad seeing as the cheapest one in the UK was £720 plus shipping.

My generator would not self prime. It worked fine, the impeller was prefect.

I then changed the impeller about 18 months later ( It has gone) and low and behold it self primes.

I had the impeller out a few times to inspect it and it really was perfect - apparently - but apparently not. so pumps works in mysterious ways to tight tolerances. Best of luck with the new one
