I am sure there is a bit of both in there, although with the U.K. It's more likely that you just missed the small weather window

Get away, it's literally balmy and this weekend early next is looking like mid 20's again. September is one of my fav months. I guess if you live "up norf" or in Scotland it's probably snowing.
