I have a Simrad RD68 VHF set which seems be receiving transmissions intermittently( as checked from my hand held).
I have noticed when I key the microphone the display changes from Rx to Ant there is no mention of what Ant means in the handbook but there is mention of muting the internal speaker but I can’t seem to work out if I have muted it and if so how to un mute it. I have checked the co axial with a multimeter and it seems ok.
Should the display actually show Tx rather than Ant ?

It tells you in the manual in the "Fault Finding" section! "Ant" means that either the antenna is damaged, or the antenna cable is damaged, or there's a faulty contact in the antenna wiring.

Yes, my RD68 shows "ant" when the tx button is pressed too. Also my AIS is not transmitting very strongly (even thought the VSWR on the Vesper app says its ok) So will be renewing the hawk vhf and cable (14 years old) back to the Vesper splitter this Sept along with a new rig. I imagine there is some water ingress somewhere in the coax.

I had the same problem and it turned out to be a poor connection of the coax to the rear of the set. A couple of minutes to fix. Was dreading a new masthead antenna and cable routing problems.
