So how many times did you go out this season?

Checking our boat's log I counted 16 day trips out this year excluding the delivery trip and training days during the early part of the year.

We added around 60 hours to the engines which almost equals the total hours recorded for the previous 5 years! I have noticed by recording trip start and finish times that the totals recorded for the engine hours is always around 1/3 more than the actual hours. I think that the engines may now finally be run in?

I am pleased to report that the boat is still in one piece with no damage and still looks as good as when we first saw her :D

Next year, for a number of boring financial reasons we will have to use the boat less :(

I've recorded 27 days out this year and a total of just under 80 hours - normally do 120 odd, but that's mainly because I've only had a couple of longer trips due to illness through the whole of July. Did a nice trip to Cherbourg at the end of June but other than that haven't been further than the IoW, Hamble or Weymouth during the whole season.

I feel that I haven't used the boat enough to justify the cost of running her this year, so hope to do a lot more mileage and longer trips next year.

250 hours (we are slacking we had done almost 300 by this time last year) which equates to four week long holidays and day/weekend trips pretty much every weekend.

Poor boat had 240 hours on it when we picked it up almost two years ago it now has 790 hours on the clock!!!

Not once, never, nix:(

However, I am assured that next year we will be out on the water every weekend as well as holidays.

We really must get out of the honey trap that is Chichester

Just over 200 hrs....... but we're not finished yet ? :)

Yes, I'd like to go out again but I need to have the bottom cleaned to prevent be running around without having to use WOT to stay on the plane and I can't get time off work at the moment to sort this out.

Our boating this year has been restricted to weekends only. SWMBO decided that she didn't want to only do boating for our holidays this year and for my two week leave period I had hoped to use the boat for some days during my second week but the weather in the last week of August prevented us.

We did think long and hard whether to sell our boat for that reason but we haven't decided to go down that route yet. It is probably too late to do that this year and avoid the annual servicing / berthing costs.

You've made me feel a bit better, May. I've been out exactly twice this summer :(. Mind you, up until three weeks ago, the boat was out of the water having some engine repairs done so two weekends out of three isn't so bad I suppose.

I hope Mr maybh1 is improving? Otherwise I'd find a yottie toyboy somewhere, to go out on the boat with you. I would offer my own services but I'm advised by Mrs jhr, that use of the word "Toyboy" in relation to myself, would be a serious breach of the Trade Descriptions Act. :D

We've done 15 trips staying away about 20 nights, 65 engine hours and just short of 800nm. Not too bad, and we'll hopefully get at least a couple more stay away trips in plus some fishing too before the end of the year.
Much as we love our Seawings, she is for sale. It's become ever more apparent this summer that if we're going to accomplish the longer trips I want to do, we really do need more space as the kids are growing up fast and the amount of stuff that is 'essential' is growing exponentially, and I'd like something bigger for longer passages.

Mr Maybh1 is greatly improved, thank you. In fact, just about back to normal although still taking the medication - I have him out on site today working for his wage:D

He is thinking of taking the boat to the Morbihan next year - so that will be some consolation for this lost season

Reference your very kind offer - in relation to me - you would be a Toy Boy unless you were pushing 60:D:D

I don't count the hours, but I can say we have been on the boat and going on trips virtually every weekend since February. We will carry on until about Christmas and then out the boat will come for some TLC, then we start again.

We have about 70hrs total this season, which is over double compared to last. Like others, our season is not finished yet. We fired up the heating and tested the trusty eblanket last week and all is ready for some winter boating (hopefully).

twice - so far.

Poole/Weymouth/Torquay/Dartmouth/Plymouth/Poole - family

Poole/Cherbourg/Poole - single handed Scuttlebutt cruise/dinner

otoh I hope to get out another 10 or more times before Christmas...

But hang on. Thats only because it takes you about three times as long to get any where.

For about the first time, we have not done much this year, just round and round Anglesey. A few days here and a few days there.

We tend to go to the boat and spend about two weeks there, nearly every month. WE no longer bother if we go out or not. If we do go out, we wont be back for a few weeks.

Might go to Scotland next year, though we were going this year, but did not bother. There were excuses, like the auto pilot is not working, or she's only making 18 knots. WE could have gone most of the time. At least to IOM. But the Admirals decision is final.

Just shy of 400 hours, but it is not enough as the parrot loves all the different noises on the boat and keeps mimicing them when we get home.

Must teach him to swear at everyone who calls him Polly.

IMO, engine hours are a meaningless measure of boat use, they simply indicate how long the engine has been running.

We've been to the boat every weekend since March, except 2 or 3. We've had days out and weekends away. Cruised the Owell, Stour, Walton Backwaters, Deben and Thames as well as many days out fishing along several miles of East Coast, up to 25 miles offshore.

We've had much more use, much better use and much nicer cruising grounds this year, rather than last year in The Wash and surrounding area. But, we've put less hours on the engine. I'm happy with that, better use, less diesel :)
