Brilliant!

Have been scrubbing the inside of my yacht, to get her ready for re-painting for quite a while now. Not something i enjoy doing as there are quite a few rust stains that i can never shift. So the end result of an afternoon spent scrubbing is never that great.

Didn't really want to spend the money on the rust stain removal stuff so thought i would give brilo pads a go.......

Bloody amazing, everything comes off with out even trying, even the most stubborn gunk stains evaporate with a little bit of elbow grease.

Got about a third of the boat looking so nice i dont think it even needs painting now, did it in about an hour (and shes 50 ft of nooks and crannies)!

So one up for brilo pads if you want something looking nice with not much effort. Gonna attack the deck next!

Did end up using the Asda wire looking scrubbers as well with the brilo pads as a first run over then the Asda thingys. This took every thing off with out any bother at all.

If they are still wire wool based, rather than stainless, you will leave thousands of tiny specks of steel which will show rust stains later.
Very difficult to remove all traces of the debris.

How about going over the areas you cleaned with a magnet?

How about using gaffer or packing tape wrapped around your hand, sticky side out, and dab the areas to pick any bits of wire wool?

I feel for you Jams all that hard work then finding out it might all be in vain.

you would have been better off with Cillit Bang Grime and Lime.
You'll need it anyway for the brillo pad bits.
