No! Was this today? What happened?
Nothing?. This is just my tow to the lift out marina! No! Was this today? What happened?
It is seastart.Git ? . I thought it was Seastart
Mine looks nothing like that. The shaft just slides in to a coupling that has no locking mechanism on it?? I've spun it and can see no fixings except for the ones that connect to the gear box! ??The tightness of the coupling won't show up as play as the shaft will only likely spin under load. Check and tighten if necessary the bolts that tighten the clamp. The example I've linked to below shows nylocs and bolts (mine has Allen keys). It's these I suggest you check.
Shaft Coupling, Split Clamp On Shaft Coupling 202-258C
Unbolt the coupler from the gear box and slide shaft backward. How would you remove the shaft on your set up?
So a quick update..
boat has been lifted, prop removed and cleaned, shaft tested for play. Nothing under the water looks faulty. So prop has been re fitted with new anode too.
Now I just need to go out this afternoon and do a water test.
No play in the coupling was noted and gear box seems ok.
There is a small knock sound from the gear box when rudder is first turned but it is not an on going noise. Apparantly this is just the gear being picked up??I will be doing an ATF change before water test.
Must have been a rope temp trapped until cutter freed it. Rattling noise is being put down to the prop anode coming loose.I'm flattered, especially as none of my suggestions were relevant ?. Wonder what it was then.
Actually managed to do that this lunch time. Under load at 1000 rpm shaft was doing 480rpm on a 2:1 boxCan you use a non contact tacho to check if engine/shaft speed matches the gear ratio?
