So, I've done an ATF and filter change.
Noticed the trolling valve was an inch open, closed it. Then sea trialed.
All went well. Hope it was just the trolling valve oversight ?

Yep, I intend to wire it shut.

Ah - wasn't aware you have a trolling valve.

These are designed for use op to a given (1200?) rpm and can behave weirdly when going above.
If not connected to a working remote via cable, fit it with a strip, bolt or whatever

It is all connected, that was the problem. Somebody had knocked the lever open by about an inch. And I never noticed.

Yes quite. We've had her 3.5 seasons and this has never happened. Quite embarrassing really.

I've just stumbled across this shaft coupling manufactured by Ringspann which explains the confusion earlier. There's some installation instructions to download and a video if ever you need to remove your shaft.
