sniff sniff......

Oh dear. That means SWMBO will send me off to the boat to do some fitting-out. With a bit of luck it should be wet & horrible for a couple of days yet.

Let's hope for better everything than last year :)
At least my sailing ground should see us out more often this year

Sailing ground? You want sailing water mate. You're not in the Wash now you know.

And Full Circle will be in the water 1st week of May. Ages yet, not to mention

148 jobs on list
20 jobs with progress
8 complete

Hmm.

Did you have to mention the job list ?
Not even counting mine, though first on the list after bum and topsides is heating
That should make sure we have a hot summer :D

So you have 120 jobs outstanding and 66 days left. No pressure, but that is nearly two jobs everyday or 6 jobs every weekend day.

Not doing all of them myself, and I expect at least 8 to complete this weekend, with progress on another 6 or 7

I've just spent the day on/in/under the boat. She doesn't have a rudder, keel or a lot of internal structure.

Breaking the list into specific jobs is too scary so we have.

Replace floors
Replace rudder
Refit keel.
Fit new tanks
Varnish mast (in shed near home)
Refit saloon
Varnish.

See only seven jobs. Plan to be in commision over easter.

:)

Eight jobs, I forgot remove and refit new chainplates.

Blow me James.
I am glad that I don't have a wooden boat!

Just a few jobs for us:-
Apply some deck paint to the more slippery areas.
Antifoul.
Make stack pack bag.
Obtain and fit new Kicker system.
Fit new headlining to forcabin.

Launch date - 28th March.

I think these task lists are under-counting on two fronts.

A) Just because you've got 8, or 148, jobs, that doesn't mean to say when you've done that many you'll be finished. In my experience every other job 'done' generates another job (or two, or three) through damage, knock on effects, etc. E.g. deck fittings leaking. Job 1 - Remove and rebed chainplates. Removed to seal, some found corroded. Now 2 jobs, make new chainplates, and rebed chainplates. Chainplates made, so one job down, but different shape/size than before, so now still 2 jobs to go - reseal chainplates, and change length of shrouds to match new chainplates. Chainplates fitted and resealed, now 2 jobs down, but still 2 to go because now locker lid broken accessing underside of chainplates as well...

B) Your list of jobs probably doesn't include that key job vital to getting any boat in the water - the task of shifting jobs from the 'must do before boat goes into water' list onto the 'will do later' list!

But it is great that the weather's finally easing above freezing, and the days lengthening.

The absolute essentials (new batteries, lift/scrub/anodes/kiwi fix and poss fuel) should be completed by the end of next week using mainly the principles of GSETDIFY (get someone else to .....). Hopefully week after next normality will return, I will get out on the water, and the non-essentials battle will commence.

Err, you have noticed that Easter is early this year? Only a month to go. Since you are a superman can you recaulk my garboards while you're at it?

Our jobs list for this weekend consists of:
Load up car,
load all that stuff into boat,
Put on more clothes than we ever thought we could cram ourselves into,
Go sailing.

Just thinking I can make a start on must-do jobs - that is: when I can leave swmbo - and I fall and crack a rib - incapacitated.

I was going to say at least it's in the water - no toiling down vertical ladders going to the mooring and then putting the mast up, and then I read the forecast for Sunday and from the EAST! At least the cracked rib allows me to cross my fingers!

Trying to not be smug

Last year I was smug about the jobs I had done on Flipper and then calamity after going back in the water so this year I am just telling it as it is!

VHF / AIS / Chartplotter all fitted - just need to get them to talk to each other

Mast stuff done (Lights / echomax) and mast back up

Rewiring completed other than wind / log / depth - should have hatch 'garage' and instrument pod fitted by next weekend then can fit and wire in instruments.

1 coat of antifouling on today!:D

Went to Dauntless on Canvey Island yesterday - amazing place! So now also going to repaint the non slip deck (bargain paint) and (don't tell SWMBO) fit 2 new self tailing winches - well I decided 'winchers' were not ideal and the winches were a bargain (gulp!)

Long list of jobs moved to winter '10!!

VHF / DSC course tomorrow

Since Christmas (inc a week o/s) remove saloon, cabin sole and beams, bring mast home and strip. Extract 15 floors, blast and gal, remove keel, rudder and chain plates. Extract electrolsis rivets, dowel (slight A&E mishap witha power drill :/), painted bilge, refitted main floor bolts.

Mast has second coat on. Water tanks are ready for collection, chain plates to drop off, this week. Floors have been dry fitted on Saturday and chain plates extracted. (Some new deck planks now required, teak on order).

Saloon at home for re cutting and fitting, prolly a days work, but also probably once in water.

New gland for rudder on order. Waiting on keel bolts (SYH responsibility, they have to do rudder and keel)

Notes, new spreader required, ash ordered.

I'll be in by easter if SYH do their part and I have a few late nights!
