Hi, as per the title really. How much/how long would you expect to see smoke from these lumps. The pair in question have very low hours (350ish) and extremely well maintained so I’m wondering whether the low hours is a factor here and that some hard work may do them some good. Are there any additives etc that are known to work rather than just snake oil? TIA

I have absolutely no dou
Do you believe the hours ?
If sounds like a good thrashing and some fresh fuel might do them some good.

I do believe in fuel additive .. they all seem to do some good .

Using Clearwinner LA88 the last year or two

.

I have absolutely no doubt of the hours and history - the paperwork is solid gold. I'd already thought about fresh diesel - I haven't thought to check the diesel levels tbh so an option would be to run them low(er) and then refill with fresh diesel and dose it at the same time. That and some hard work can't do any harm. I'll look at that additive - thanks

I had a Princess with these engines , it’s just sold again out of Swansea .
The 62 was a less smokey engine than the 61 though it looks identical .

If the injectors have not been removed and tested at 10 years old then that’s start as low nozzle opening pressure causes nozzle drip.

There is a bypass valve that allows air to bypass the intercooler at aid on cold start up , there is also a pre heater element as part of the bypass valve , there is a strip fuse , if blown then the heater won’t work .
The heater is on a timed relay 50 seconds , turn the ignition key until you heat a click , watch the volt meter drop to about 10 volts , after 50 seconds start the engine yo7 should see a difference in smoke at cold start up.

Thats very interesting as I didn't realise there were any heaters, and they're certainly weren't used when I was on her last week. Many thanks
