Smaller bit of 18mm marine ply...where to buy?

Check the builders merchants, Jewsons for instance do a marine ply. Probably a branch near you. They do not show prices on line but a call should find out. We used loads of their sheets for roof decking when a better quality was specified. Perhaps not the best face but good for your use and no yottie pricing.

Are you replacing the whole hatch, or just cutting a hole in the original hatch? Just interested as anothe Sabre owner who wants more light in the forecabin

Started a thread last week about marine ply suppliers near Gosport...got an answer and all was good, however the price for an 8x4 sheet was frightnening!

Basically I'm changing my horrible GRP forehatch for a Houdini version and need to make a new wooden surround for it and epoxy onto the boat first to modify the slight curve in the existing setup. I need a piece of something about 18mm thick (could be a bit thinner), about 600x600. Most of it is going to get cut out the middle, what's left it going to get epoxied/drilled/filleted/filled/painted...buying a huge sheet of virginal ply seems daft!

Help! Does anyone know any yards on the South Coast that might do offcuts or smaller sheets? Or is there a mail order company anywhere? Anyone on here got any spare or want to "split" a sheet with me?

Thanks!

After four and a half years I think it's time to post a pic of the finished job to put them all out of their misery.:encouragement:

You can get lucky looking around merchants and woodworking shops.
My hatch over my companionway has a piece of ''1/2 perspex, which had over time crazed and had scratch marks etc.
I found a local supplier of perspex, who had offcuts but in 10mm (''3/8) but which turned out to be polycarbon, amazing strength, cut me a piece from the cut off 30'' x 20'' all for 12 pounds, great bargain.
