Can anyone tell me what the small round black thing is which is attached to the radar arch. I have no idea. oops...

Unfortunately, along the way, your Raymarine equipment goes a bit haywire, starts to call you "Dave", and tries to kill the rest of your crew.

From that pic loos a bit like a Raymarine Fluxgate sensor for an Autohelm, but would be an odd place to mount it. Better pic required please.

Yes it looks like a raymarine fluxgate compass for the autopilot.

Not the best place for it. It should be mounted low down and on the center line of the boat away from large metal objects.

Presuming it is a Raymarine fluxgate, might worth checking its IP rating, I am not sure from memory if they are designed for exterior mounting.
