Small RIB\'s

wonder can anyone suggest a small rib / tender thingy for my 41 garage, have a rubber duck type thing but find that being only 2.6m any wind at all and I am skeeting all over the place so wonder if there are any very small ribs around that size that will take a ickle 4 hp, thinking being that I will have a lot more directional stability if there is some sort of rigid bottom.

Here you go..........twas last summer and port actuator fried itself before I even got twenty yards of the berth so no hols that long weekend /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

I guess you need something light that is still relatively easy to haul in and out of the garage? You could consider the Zodiac Cadet 285 which has an inflatable floor/keel. Sort of halfway house between a proper RIB and a rubber duck. Alternatively have a look at the Valiant Dynamic RIB range. They claim to be the lightest RIB's on the market and therefore suited to tender use. I've had a couple of Valiants and they're good kit

Yep, you need the Avon 2.6 lite RIB, or one of the equivalents from other manufacturers. They are superlight, have a single skin rigid hull, and a folding transom, and they store in what looks like a windsurfer bag. I had one with an 8 hp and it planed nicely.

On the subject of weight, Do tender garages like that, have electric winches to pull the tender up?

yes mine does, has a drop in pair of rollers on the leading edge of the swim platform and then you just clip the winch strop on the U bolt on the dingy and push the button and hey ho one tender in the garage, you can just see the holes the rollers drop into on the platform.

Valiant Dymanic 270 seems to be popular - 'tis an ickle RIB which Fairline (?) favour.

Agree with Houghn.

Thats what I have with 5 hp.

In fairness the boat is slower than a previous inflatable floor type I have with a 4hp. The extra wt in the floor is significant from memory the boat is 35kg and engine the same. It is however very stable and a very good tender - not a fast fun toy thing.

As said when deflated its has a smart bag so the whole shooting match looks like a double width surf board. Fits in the car

Another vote for the Valiant D270, I used to have one that planned easily with a 4hp (with self and small child) unless it was choppy.

Now I have a zodiac 310 with solid ply floor which is light for its class but still weighs more than the Valiant, and I am not sure how an inflatable floor would stand up to the rollers if choppy ?
