I've sold the big boat as I just wasn't getting enough sailing done (family not really interested for more than just a couple of days here and there) and am starting to look at a small lift keeler/shoal draft boat.

The criteria are as follows:
Relatively modern design
No (or very limited) headlining
Lift keel or shoal draft
Fun, lively sailing
21-26 feet
Maintenance light (more grp, less wood)
Budget up to 12K

I'm thinking Etap 21i or 23/23i or 26i, Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 24.2, Beneteau First 210, Jeanneau Sun 2000 that kind of thing.

Sailing East Coast rivers and Coastal, nothing too extreme.

Does anyone have any thoughts/ideas/recommendations?

Thanks loads, James

Anderson 22?

Wonderful boats: I've been tempted so many times but haven't, as yet, actually taken the plunge into ownership.

I know a man who knows quite a lot about them ........

Did I mention relatively modern design? :ROFLMAO:

Jeanneau Tonic? Fails on the headlining front unless it has been done.

Hunter Liberty/Minstrel ?
Swin Ranger?

I like the Tonic, but I'm finished with headlining! I think the Sun Odyssey is a successor to that?

Swin Ranger looks a little........boxy?

sorry to here that it din't work out with the big French boat.

I know what you mean about head linings!

I get the dilemma, only moderate interest so far from my family and I have been contemplating whether my next move should be bigger, smaller or stay the same... Good luck with your next boat - lots of attractive options.

Another vote for Super Seal 26. If the budget will stretch to a Parker 27, you’ll get a bit more headroom on practically the same boat.

Yes, a water caravan with 6 foot headroom but I loved mine, I had it for about sixteen years and took it through the French canals to the med a couple of times.

Your choice of an Etap looks good to me - a 21i,22i or 23 - no headlining and foam buoyancy gives good insulation and hence less condensation - nice dry boats. All 3 mentioned are towable so cheaper storage ( if you have it) over the winter. Downside is there is no class association anymore if that is important to you, but an active Facebook group exists. Check the keel lifting mechanism works correctly and smoothly as that can be expensive to sort if it has not been maintained.

I'm a little out of touch with 'covid-era' prices but Hunter Horizon 26 usually creeps in to that price range..
As a slightly left-field choice, what about one of my personal favourites, an MG Spring 25?
