No this is not about propellers !

The 'Title' is the nearest I can get to explaining what I am after.

I am putting in 2 new side windows and using '3M VHB' tape to bed them in ...

...BUT I will have to lay a plank, up ended on its side edge against the stanchion posts and use (here we go again) Small Horizontal Acrow Props to put pressure on the windows (suitably protected with rags or something).

However, where can I get something like Acrows that close to at least 50cm and expand up to 1.5 m s ?

SCaff base jacks from your local scaff yard? Little scaff frame round the stanchions ?
Or maybe reveal pins might be easier.

An Acrow type will be far too heavy for that application
I would use timber & timber folding wedges

Forgive my awful art skills..
One option, scaff and reveal pins for a few quid rent from your local scaff yard.
You could make something up from timber and wedges but might be a pain to get set up.

I would use the scissor jack out of my wife's car to apply the pressure and pack out the rest of the space with a few blocks of wood. I suspect there also might be a similar jack in the mouldings under the boot of mine which would make it feasible to do two at a time.

I have a couple of clamps which are designed so that you can turn the fixed head around and move it to the other end of the bar, and then it pushes outwards instead of inwards and becomes exactly the kind of thing you're looking for. Won't open up to 1.5m, but presumably you can fill the gap with some scrap wood.

Alternatively, I have some props intended for lifting plasterboard up to a ceiling; most of their length is telescopic and fixed once extended, but the top part ratchets up like a clamp. With the telescoping part retracted they would certainly fit in your 1.5m, but not down to 0.5. I got them from Aldi, but they can probably be found on eBay or maybe at Machine Mart.

I have some of those - really useful; like http://www.screwfix.com/p/extension-support-rod/14003

Do you really need your 'spreader bars?' I fitted new windows by fitting the central screws tightish first then fitting adjacent ones progressively until the ends are reached. I gradually tightened them all until they were all snug. I did fit small ss washers between the window and hull so the tape/mastic is not over compressed. Worked for me.
