I have a 1GM 10 and the metal diesel tank I have just removed has a hole in the bottom.

I'd like to replace it with a new plastic tank but no bigger than 20 litres really.

Anyone know of a good source, has anyone used an outboard tank as an inboard???

Recommendations please.

Thank you!

Just in case anyone is wondering if plastic tanks are safe, a couple of years ago a friend was clearing out a large GRP yacht that had had a serious fire. The cabin top & cockpit was gone, deck & interior severely damaged. The fire reached temperatures that melted the aluminium cleats & spars also manifolds on the engine. Despite this two 5ltr plastic cans of petrol had survived in a cockpit locker, when this was destroyed they fell next to the engine. Though distorted & bulged greatly they did not leak nor burst. I dont think a metal can would have done as well!

Outboard fuel tank connected with a bayonet fitting can be easily taken away to fill onshore (or at nearest supermarket forecourt), and quickly disconnected and thrown in case of fire.
Well worth considering.

I adapted an outboard tank for my 1gm10 in the Corribee, which worked well, but I've just replaced it with one of these . It's a touch cheaper than the Vetus tank, and also shallower.
If you (or anyone else for that matter) want the old outboard tank it's yours, but you'll have to collect it from the Isle of Wight.
