Slightly bigger spade connector

I have a replacement switch - but it is american. As you can see, the terminals have screws, but I cannot use them due to restricted access. The current switch takes 6.4mm push on spade terminal connectors. However these connectors are just too small for the new switch. The terminals measure 7.37mm across. I am having difficulty finding female terminals to fit over. Do they exist??

If anyone has 3 lying around unused I could buy that would be even better

Might be easier to buy a Euro switch? Not expensive. No shortage of connectors in future.

Can you not connect the wires before putting the switch in place? Otherwise maybe make up some adapter wires to give more cable to work with, with ring terminals at the switch end and connect those to the existing feed wires with bullet connectors or even male to female spades?

Make up short extensions with ring or fork connectors to the switch and spade at the other end. Means you can have your connections in a more accessible position.

They are not spade connectors in the pic, even filing them to 6.35mm (1/4") the tab will not span over the thicker threaded part.

I suggest you either: fit ring tags to your original wiring, or fit short adapter wires (before fitting the switch), or get another switch with 1/4" tabs from RS , Farnell, CPC, Maplins or similar.

It may well be easier to find a switch with standard Lucar terminals.

Many thanks for all the suggestions. This has been a saga. The switch has been supplied by Formula Spars. I now realise that I can get something similar for Maplins. However I did want to know if getting a female spade connector was a simple matter before complaining, and apparently it is not.

The auto alternator connectors are 10mm and the male spade in the switch is 7.35mm, so the alternator connectors are too big!

The switch has to be rotated into a housing, so the only way to do this without spade connectors is as you say, make connections 6" from the switch
