I noticed that my boat has a slight list to port, maybe 4-6 inches when tied up on the pontoon.Cockpit locker and fuel tank are on portside of my boat. Water tank is athwart ships at the bow. Is this just the design or is something wrong. It's a Hunter Channel 31.

my hunter (sonata) lay bows-down when moored to compensate for the weight of crew in the cockpit. maybe they designed yours to allow for the mate's luggage. tell her to stow it to starboard ;-)

How are you measuring list?

Waterline with respect to boot topping? In which case are you sure the boot topping levels are equal each side? (though 4-6 inches ought to be pretty obvious)

Mast lean? In which case are you sure the mast is upright (halyard shortened to exactly reach fixed point on toe rail one side matches equivalent point on the other side?)

After that its down to what you stow on one side or another and how far from the centre line. Batteries, tool boxes, tinned food, water and fuel cans, chain, anchors etc. Or one of your bilge keels has fallen off....Try moving something heavy uphill.

One possible factor could be the effects of the wind on the mast and rigging or cross tide on the hull, keel and rudder.

Does it still lean the same way if you tie up facing the other direction?
