Sleeping bags vs duvets on board

My boat has two settee berths (and a rarely used quarter berth). The berths are not wide and the cushions are vinyl. I have leecloths and use them.
I’ve been using a sleeping bag that’s due for renewal. But I’m thinking about using a single duvet instead. It’s just about wide enough to go round me, I think, and the thought of a washable cover is attractive... I hate the constricted feeling you get in a bag, and don’t like the struggle in and out.
any thoughts? Anyone else do this? Any ideas on how to stow a duvet hehehe? I have very limited space on board so need to think about that too
 
Duvets. I also have some sheet sleeping bags for crew changes.

You could use a vacuum bag - I know you probably don't have a hoover on board - duvet in the bag, roll it up tight as you can then lock the seal.
 
You could get a sleeping bag with a removable, washable, liner. That said I find that some such liners can get tangled if they don't have sufficient connection points to the main bag.

There was someone on here a few years ago who claimed that he banned sleeping bags from his boat as he was scared of not being able to get out of one in a hurry, but I'd file that under nonsense.

If you go for the duvet option you could get a seeping bag compression stuff sac for storage, but don't keep it compressed in either that or a vacuum bag too long or it will loose its 'loft'.
 
For the double berth - I joined two identical bags together ... so it was closed along the hull side but open as a duvet to get in / out. If the 'single' berth is ok .. nothing stop doing that ?

I can still separate - roll up and put into the bag making stowage easy. I don't have room for 'proper bedding'

Sleeping bag for me but I bought one which is wider than some. Would not want a mummy shaped one or even a tapered one
 
Sleeping bags on the Hurley 18 because of lack of space and the fact that we only spend a night or two aboard at a time. Duvets and proper bedding on the Bavaria because we spend months at a time on board through the summer. I spent quite enough time in sleeping bags during my army career to want to use them any more than I have to....

Tesco ten quid sleeping bags on passage - easy to wash and dry but not really comfortable - and duvets at anchor or alongside.

Can you imagine that now ? You'd have all the 'do-gooders' ganged up accusing parents of not caring for their kids !!

That is exactly what I do. Originally started with a 4 TOG for summer and was too cold. This was a couple of years ago when the summer land temperatures were reaching 37C! Now use a 10.5 TOG and can kick it off is I get too warm.
