Size of US boat market

Just how many boat owners are there in the US.

I have just joined the Chaparral owners new forum and I am No 6995!
Chaparral arnt even the biggest US sports boat builder.

like searay make 50,000 per year
and the big four in britain made
5,000 maybe I got it wrong though

12.7 million registered recreational craft in 2008, according to the US Coastguard

but registration requirements vary in different states: some require only power driven vessels to be registered, others require canoes, rowing boats, and unpowered sailing boats to register.

Sea Ray in the best of times builds approx 2000 BPY
Fairline 300 BPY
Sunseeker 350 BPY
Princess 300 BPY
Sealine 300 BPY
Cranchi 1000 BPY
Bavaria 1000 BPY
these numbers stand for average production nos...

for example all British builders are for surely building less in numbers but bigger in sizes
Fline sold 190 boats in 2007, and for 2008 they only did 126, I think for 2009 they have similar numbers to last year
today entry level models for Princess is the V42, Sunseeker is 32 Superhawk etc etc
Still I think the market will downsize in the next years, and those builders who holding to there big sizes thinking it will be back to 2006/07 in little time cant see the real picture IMO
in fact Beneteau Group motor boats (Beneteau and Jeaneau etc) had a faboulous year, and in EU the 30 to 40 feet market had a good year in the past 2009
