Today we have, at long last finished striping and repainting Sirenia's upper works. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

If I happen to meet the previous owner who thought that Sandtex and household gloss would be good for decks etc. I would like to shake him by the neck! /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif

We also had a visit from dombuckley who kindly offered to do a post repair survey for me.
He has declared her structurally sound with just a few minor items to attend to.
In fact he said that she was in better condition that 2 other Evo 25's he had surveyed and her moisture readings are very low.
Thank you very much Dominic /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Easter weekend should see the keel and engine reinstalled and the new mast up to check lengths of the standing rigging.
Then it is on with replacing the cabin linings and the final wiring.

If all goes well she will feel the water again at the end of this month and be back on her new mooring on the Deben in early May.

Wow, what a fabulous difference from the previous topsides.....

Really looking forward to seeing Sirenia back out on the water.

When/where is the party?

Thanks for the photo.
I was looking for a before pic.

I want to get her all sorted before a full on party.

The outline plan is to have a week on the River Cam to be sure all is o.k. ans then tow her to Levington during the May Bank holiday.

You can be very sure of that.
There will be a slow moving vehicle on the A14 that day.
40mph max.

It is a boring ride but safe.

The topsides (blue bit) were painted with Blakes 2 pack (Polygloss?) 2 years ago.
It was difficult to apply well but I have found later that adding some thinners would have helped a lot. That was 3 under coats and 2 top coats.

The decks, cabin top and cockpit (white bit) is International's 2 pack (Perfection)
With a little bit of thinners (5%) it want on easily.
2 undercoats and 2 top coats.
We used a small foam roller to lay the paint on and to tip it off.

Very pleased with the overall result.
