Just sorted out some single line reefing with lines going back to the cockpit. Trouble is, the lowest two sail slides stop the main coming down snugly, so I'm left with a very baggy foot. What does everyone else do - should I just get rid of these slides?

what I did, although it may not suit your mast as mine is wooden and the sail track is only screwed on, is to simply cut out a small section between the gooseneck and the eye for the cunningham and the sail simply falls to one side as it comes down. I also put a small guide in so it always falls to port . .

Hope that helps
Danny

I don't have any problem with mine, like that. My system was fitted by Chris Holman at Chi marina and the sail was adapted by Arun Sails. The system works fine. The onlything that I have to remember is to lift the boom, using the topping lift, to get it all to pull down evenly.

I just ignore it. The boat sails just fine with the reefs in and a bundle of sail in that area. But I have been meaning to fix it for a couple of years now.

I attached the sliders to the sail with lines that were taut when the sail was fully hoisted but were slack when sail was reefed down. The line needs two attachment points on the sail some short distance above and below the slider. Trial and error I'm afraid but works well if you take the trouble to do it.
